What's New?

Ya'll know why you're here, so without further ado...

8/27/00        Hey guys, I saw that Ellis has been posting stuff on the official discussion board and I decided to make a new section to the web page dedicated to his postings. The new section is called In His Own Words.  :)  I figure the stories will be fun to read and it's just nice to see what he has to say for himself. *wink*

8/20/00         As promised, the compilation listing has been updated and let me tell you, it was a doozy. Lots of new stuff there.  Karen and Bill have both been hard at work.   They are working on getting archives together for Ellis and I strongly suggest contacting them if you have something you'd like to share. I know they'll be grateful.   *grin*  I also added to the Songs from Nowhere page.  Rainy Season is now up, due in large part to Suni. (thank you, thank you)  I also know that Ellis is working on this one so things are gonna change, I'm sure. I'll be working on getting the new songs that Ellis co-wrote with Darryl Purpose and of course the brand spanking new song which those of us who have heard it call Medicine.  That's a guesstimate on our part, but ain't it all anyway...?  :)  I also hear that Ellis did a guest turn on the new David Wilcox album that's coming out. Should be mucho frio, or should I just say kewl?

8/16/00         Well, I've been at it again.  I added a couple new articles to the article page.  There is an interview with Leak CD from 1994 and an article about Ellis from Tulsa World 7/99 that are the most significant additions. I've received an update from our intrepid compilation tracker Karen, who got a little assistance from our good buddy Bill.  I'll be updating the compilation page probably this weekend. Trust me when I say I'm working on all kinds of stuff.  :)

7/4/00            Yup.  I've been slacking again.  What can I say??  But the good news is, I've added a bunch of new article links and I also added a link for the twec.com chat transcript that Ellis did on 3/14/00.  I'm working on more pictures...  The hidden track from Translucent Soul is also up now.   Remember we ain't purfeckt  so if you notice an error, I may take well to you pointing out graciously...  But then you never know. *wink* We'll be adding more projects to the compilations list cause Ellis just won't slow down... I've also added the article from the Improper Bostonian.  See?  I have been busy... *grin*

6/9/00           It's only been forever...  But I added the lyrics for the hidden track on Carnival of Voices called Ghosts and I will be adding the hidden track from Translucent Soul probably next week. We're still working on the early albums to get those lyrics up.  It's all behind the scenes right now. *grin*

3/15/00         Well, you all will be happy to learn that I have updated the Songs From Nowhere Page with count 'em,  2 songs!    "Words" and "Sweet Mistakes".  They're beautiful songs. Fall over dead, dart to the heart type deals. So check 'em out. *grin*  Just don't blame me if you find yourselves on the floor!  I also updated the announcement page. Nothing major, but there you go...  :)  I also updated the compilations page with the beautiful assistance of Karen Z.  Ever lovely as usual...  :)   Ellis' Live album is out now and is super awesome.  Some of the Songs from Nowhere are on the Live album. Yay!  Vance's Live album is out too!  Go buy them both!  I insist!  Have I asked anything of you lately? I think not. (I'm playing the guilt card here...  Is it working? *wink*)

2/16/00         This is scary. 2 updates in 2 days.  What will people say? *grin* Well, there is a new link to a discussion list for EP and that is on the links page (where else should it be?) I also added a link to Don Conoscenti's sites cause he's a friend of EP and I like him. (How's that for arbitrary?) Liza likes him too and we have good taste, so check him out!  :)  I'll also say that Liza and I are working on transcribing the songs from Ellis' two cassettes - Am I Home and Urban Folksongs. We're working on it and these will also go on the Songs from Nowhere page since the cassettes are currently unavailable...  That's it for now.  :)

2/15/00         I shudder to  think how long it's been since the page has been updated.  Can I just say real life and we'll leave it at that? Here's cool news for everybody. Ellis will have a show broadcast over the internet Live from the Bluebird Cafe on 2/24/00. He will also be doing a live interview at noon on RadioBoston on 3/14/00 (Live album release date.) He will be doing a chat at 8:00pm on Twec.com.  Be there! *grin*  Also some other super cool news is that Vance Gilbert is also releasing a Live album next month which will include a RealVideo of Vance and Ellis performing Dear Amelia.   Vance is a must in my book any day, but in combo... I just say Wow!

12/2/99        I realize I've been remiss in updating the site and I actually have pictures from the show EP did here in the 'burgh. I'll get them developed... eventually.  But the coolest thing going right now is the song Ellis did with Kristian Bush (of Billy Pilgrim fame) and Brandon Bush called Rollaway Bed. It's at the MP3 site.  I have added a link to the song along with a link to the MP3-Billy Pilgrim site. There is also a link to a fan based web page for Billy Pilgrim. You'll find these little gems on the Projects Page, so get going!

11/14/99     Thanks to Karen Z, the compilation page has been updated with 2 more albums where Ellis has made a guest appearance. Check it out.  I don't have the Billy Pilgrim, but I can most definitely recommend, "Beneath Your Moon" by Don Conoscenti. It's a great album!

11/8/99     Happy Monday!   I have added the lyrics for two more new songs. Please keep in mind that EP is constantly reworking songs so the lyrics may change...  These are taken from the Schubas show in Chicago on 11/6/99, which was outstanding by the way. *grin*

10/31/99    Happy Halloween!  Here's the treat. (Corny I know. But it's Halloween and isn't it the time of year for corn? The candy kind of course. *grin*) Moving on before this really degenerates into something horrible...   I added pictures from Appel Farms Festival.  I also added a link to an interview with Vance and Ellis from the show at the Mansion in Middletown, NY. Liza and I were at the show, and the Mansion is a great place to see people perform. Impressive digs and great music. What more can you ask for?  I also added a link to an article about a house concert Ellis did in VA.  The page also has two short video clips of Ellis.   They are not full length so don't be surprised if they cut off in the middle of a song. Other than that still working on more lyrics.

10/18/99     Happily I've added more lyrics to the Songs from Nowhere page and I plan to finish up what I have still hanging out there in the near future.  The songs I added were: Ain't it the Strangest World, Martyr's Lounge, Mrs. Jones, and Seize the Day.  The lyrics may change as Ellis tweaks stuff, but we know this.  It's a start.  *grin*

9/29/99   Well. I divided the images page into three sections.  It should download more quickly now for everybody.  I also added some links to other pictures I've found while surfing the net.

9/26/99      Well guys, I've done some boring stuff that you might not care about, but then again you may. I changed the order of the articles around. The articles and interviews are now in descending date order. (Most recent stuff at the top. *grin*) I also added a link to an article from The Augusta Chronicle. (Also in date order. Are you sensing a pattern here?)   I'm working on more lyrics and we'll see what I can accomplish in the next couple of weeks.  More shows to see. Yay!

9/24/99     Added pictures taken by Bill from the Mucky Duck. I like them. You will too. *grin* Also added a new article from Packet Publications. Added a link to a review of the Pawling show. Fern outdid herself on this review. I'm sure you'll agree it's quite lovely.  The review link is listed on the articles page.

9/17/99   With the kind assistance and contribution of Bill, I have updated the venues page with some additional places to visit.  :)  I've also set up an archive page for the announcement emails that Ellis' management sends. To sign up for the email or mailing list, go here. Click on essential info and you're good to go. Also added a Philo Q&A for Ellis on Translucent Soul.

9/15/99     Karen emailed me with more compilation listings, so what's a girl to do? I'm under some sort of delusion that people are actually looking at the site every day. I can't bear for people not to have the information as soon as possible...

9/14/99   So I lied. I'm adding the lyrics to If I Told You and Everything's Broken. I'll still be working on stuff behind the scenes, but the next update shouldn't be until this weekend. I have places to go and people to see... *grin*

9/13/99    More changes and I think this will be the last for a bit. I'm taking a break!  :)  I put Venues to Visit on its own page. I have a feeling that may grow into something bigger and I figure I'll make my life a little easier now, rather than later. Added link to "What's New" on the side of the page. I'm hoping it makes it easier for you all to find out what's been changed or updated. Separated the links page into categories and I'm thinking of adding links for the different folk festivals, but I don't want to get out of hand. So tell me what you think.   :)  Done now.

9/12/99    I changed the Glossary page around a bit in order to avoid scrolling for forever. Just click on the album  covers and that'll get you where you want to go. The "Songs from Nowhere" links are still on the Glossary page. I also added the WYEP interview. I hope ya'll like it.   :)   Also added "Venues to Visit" on the links page. If you know of any other kickin' venues just send us an email with a description and a URL. 'kay?

9/11/99    Added pictures from the Pawling show to the Images page. Liza got some really good ones. *grin*

9/10/99    Added the lyrics for "This Old Car" , "Paperback Man", and "Ashes to Dust". They're linked from the compilation page since these are songs from compilation albums. Also updated the compilation page with more stuff. Ellis is a busy, busy guy. *grin*

9/8/99    Added a new page called Songs from Nowhere. So far the lyrics for "Did Galileo Pray" and "Maria's Beautiful Mess" are up there. I hope to be adding the other titles you see on the page. (If Ellis doesn't kill me first *gulp*)

9/5/99    Updated the Glossary page with links from "Songs from Nowhere" Liza's responsible for this stuff. She was inspired to finish this particular project by the Pawling show with Ellis and Vance. Go see! :)

9/1/99    Updated compilation list with 4 additional guest appearances and actually made a guest appearances section. (Hey it was all Karen's doing, I'm just a willing lackey for putting it on the page... The idea was hers!)

8/31/99    Added World Cafe 1/14/99 Interview to Articles Page.

8/25/99   Added additional pictures from Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. My favorite picture from the festival. Don C picked Ellis up and spun around with Ellis in his arms. You should have been there but since you weren't, go see the pictures.  *grin*

8/13/99   Added pictures from Falcon Ridge '99. Liza and I had a wonderful time so here we are sharing part of the experience with you all.

Lofty goals and ambitions

  • Hopefully, lyrics from additional songs that are not on any albums yet.

  • Let's just say at the gracious assistance of Karen Z the compilation list is always in the works. (I'd say Ellis needs to take a vacation, but that would be wrong of me...) LOL.

  • I'll be adding additional articles as I find them and also typing up some stuff from the press packet I have. If you all have any articles that you know of, please let me know or email them to me at ragamfn1@hotmail.com.

  • Lyrics from Am I Home and Urban Folksongs.
