Changing Your Windows 95/98 Dial-Up Networking Profile to Use the New Name Servers

This document assumes you already have a working Angstrom Internet dial-up connection configured for your computer. To set up an Angstrom Internet Dial-Up Networking profile, follow this separate procedure.

Opening the Profile

To set up your Dial-Up profile to use the new name servers, open the My Computer window by double-clicking the My Computer Icon on your desktop. You should see something similar to Figure 1; in particular a folder named Dial-Up Networking.

Open the Dial-Up Networking folder by double-clicking it. A window similar to Figure 2 will appear.

Click on the Angstrom Internet Icon with the right mouse button-- a menu should appear. Select 'Properties' from the menu. A window similar to Figure 3 will open.

Changing the Settings

At this time, you may elect to change the Angstrom Internet phone number to reflect a local exchange to avoid toll charges during connections. Information about local Angstrom Internet phone numbers is available here.

At the TCP/IP Settings window, select the "Server assigned name server addresses" radio button.

To finish, click the OK button for each window you opened. Your connection is now ready; to use it, double click the Angstrom Internet icon in the Dial-Up Networking folder. Enter your username and password as it appears on the configuration sheet.
