Updating Your Windows 2000 System To The New DNS Settings.

This document assumes that Dial-Up Networking and Networking for TCP/IP are installed, and that a modem is configured for your computer, and that the Angstrom connection is set up.. For assistance with configuring Dial-Up Networking and Networking for TCP/IP, call an Angstrom representative. For assistance configuring your modem, please consult the manual that came with your modem.

Getting the Connection Ready

To update your DNS settings, open the My Computer window by double-clicking the My Computer Icon on your desktop. You should see something similar to Figure 1.

Open the Control Panel folder by double-clicking it. A window similar to Figure 2 will appear.

Double Click on the Network and Dialup Connections folder. Then righ-click on the Angstrom Internet icon, or the name of the connection that you have set up to dial-up to Angstrom, and select "Properties". A similar dialog box to Figure 4 will appear.

Select the "Networking" tab. A dialog box similar to Figure 5 will appear.

Make sure "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is highlighted, but make sure NOT TO UNCHECK IT, click on the button labeled "Properties". A dialog box similar to Figure 6 will apppear.

Make sure your settings are set to both obtain "IP Address and DNS Address" AUTOMATICALLY. Click "OK". The click "OK" at the dialog box that is titled "Angstrom Internet Properties", or whatever you named your connection previously.
