If there's one thing that I've learned in my 29 years on this earth is that you get out what you put in and cooking and web design are no different. As a college student, I had the opportunity to work amongst some of the better chefs in New England (Martha's Vineyard) cooking for people that could have financed my Liberal-Arts education with the balance on their American Express. While working on the line or preparing appetizers, I began to notice a recurring theme -- Simple and elegant, using the best ingredients available and the proper technique. While working in sales for a training/web development firm, I noticed that many of our clients were obsessed with the technology, but less so with the content of the site. When we were finished with the site, it looked great, and had all of the bells and whistles that businesses pay big money for. But did it work? Did the site achieve the desired results? Did they have a problem finding the site? Were their customers/clients satisfied, and will they be back in the near future? |
